What Students and Pilots Say
★★★★★ 5 years agoI joined ATP Colorado Springs in September of 2020 and almost immediately knew I had made a good decision. The location is a relatively small community compared to other locations like Centennial or Phoenix Mesa. You get to know everybody and you develop a good relationship with all the instructors. It’s a very fun place to fly out of and the mountains are beautiful. The only drawbacks are the seemingly endless turbu…

★★★★★ 5 years agoI joined ATP at Colorado Springs in May of 2020 and finished the ACPP in January, and I can honestly say it was the best decision I have ever made! The location is still relatively small, so everyone knows everyone, and it feels like a family. I really enjoyed the instruction I received because the instructors here really care about the student. I would recommend ATP COS to anyone who is looking for a career in the a…

★★★★★ 4 years agoI can’t say enough about this location’s instructors. The leads Evan and Dan are exceptionally knowledgeable and they go out of their way time and time again to make sure you are set up for success. They really care about your education and they will go above and beyond to help you any way they can. My primary instructor, Casey, is very committed to helping her students be successful. She is incredibly helpful and su…

★★☆☆☆ 2 years agoWe’re changing over to Aspen flight school at Centennial. ATP is very very expensive(double the cost) to other flight schools and severely lacks the resources for success including instructors, aircraft, study groups, simulators, and ground schools. Daughter was assigned 6 different instructors for her Private and instrument. 👎🏻👎🏻

Planning Your Training Here
Planning training at a local school like ATP Flight School trades the academy's speed for flexibility and often meaningfully lower total cost. The pay-as-you-fly model keeps your money in your control, and training two to three lessons weekly around work is the proven rhythm, enough frequency to retain skills without the academy's all-in schedule. The variable to manage is momentum: local-school students who succeed book standing lesson slots, fly year-round, and treat ground study as homework rather than something that happens at the airport. Ask about aircraft scheduling depth, instructor availability on your target days, and examiner wait times in Colorado Springs, the three friction points that stretch part-time timelines.
What Flying in Colorado Teaches You
Training in Colorado means learning density altitude for real. Front Range airports sit around a mile above sea level, so students here calculate performance numbers that sea-level pilots only meet in textbooks, and summer afternoons teach genuine go and no-go judgment. The reward is airmanship: mountain wave, gusty frontal passages, and some of the busiest general aviation airspace in the country under Denver's Class B. Airline recruiters know what a Colorado logbook means.
How to Evaluate ATP Flight School on Your Tour
Every school on this directory gets the same advice from us, because the fundamentals don't move. Walk the ramp and count how many aircraft are down for maintenance. Ask how many lessons a week they can actually schedule you, and how far out the booking calendar runs. Ask for first-attempt checkride pass rates and how long students wait for an examiner. And keep your money in your control: pay as you fly, or in small blocks with clear refund terms.
Then weigh the location itself. Training in Colorado Springs means building your early hours in Colorado weather and airspace, and both become part of your airmanship. Our school-selection guide covers the full vetting checklist, and the financing page maps scholarships and loans that apply at schools like this one.
Common Questions About Training at ATP Flight School
How long would my training take here?
Part-time students flying two to three lessons weekly typically earn a private certificate in six to twelve months and a commercial certificate in two to three years, with pace set by your calendar and the weather. Consistency decides everything: standing lesson slots beat sporadic bursts by months.
What will it cost, and can I get help paying?
Get ATP Flight School's current rates directly; published numbers age fast in this industry. Nationally, plan on $80,000 to $120,000 from zero time to commercial certificates before instructing pay starts offsetting costs. Our financing guide maps the loans, scholarships, and airline cadet programs that apply here, and several scholarship cycles go undersubscribed every single year.
How should I arrange a visit?
Call ahead and ask for a tour on a normal training day, not a quiet one.
