What Students and Pilots Say
★★★★★ 3 years agoThis is a really cool place to learn. The professors I have are really nice, and seem to really care about our future. The dorms are pretty good and the food is great. Since it's a small campus you can access everything fairly easy. Skateboarding, biking, one wheeling, ect are all great ways of traversing around campus. Though everything is still within walking distance. Overall a great school and you are bound to ma…

★★★★★ 9 months agoEasy to get around, beautiful campus, friendly staff and faculty. We hope the education is good - will update when we have that information. Year 2 - great education, small class sizes and access to professors. Advisor is very helpful and responsive. Year 3 - on track to graduate early and the amount of flight time students get is amazing. Really enjoying the aeronautical science classes and still loves flying!

★★★☆☆ 9 months agoThis is a great school and has a beautiful campus. HOWEVER parking as I’ve witnessed is just horrendous. If someone is paying hundreds for parking, there should be no tickets given when the SCHOOL keeps closing all the parking spots for more and more construction. Nobody should have to drive around for an hour to find a spot and end up late for class just because you can’t plan better and have your construction done…

Planning Your Training Here
Planning training at a local school like Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University - Daytona Beach trades the academy's speed for flexibility and often meaningfully lower total cost. The pay-as-you-fly model keeps your money in your control, and training two to three lessons weekly around work is the proven rhythm, enough frequency to retain skills without the academy's all-in schedule. The variable to manage is momentum: local-school students who succeed book standing lesson slots, fly year-round, and treat ground study as homework rather than something that happens at the airport. Ask about aircraft scheduling depth, instructor availability on your target days, and examiner wait times in Daytona Beach, the three friction points that stretch part-time timelines.
What Flying in Florida Teaches You
Florida pairs sea-level performance with year-round flying, which is why more airline cadets train here than anywhere outside Arizona. The classroom is the afternoon sky: predictable convection builds most summer days, teaching students to read cumulus, plan around storms, and fly mornings. Coastal training corridors from Daytona through Vero Beach are dense with trainers, so collision avoidance and crisp radio work get baked in early.
How to Evaluate Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University - Daytona Beach on Your Tour
Every school on this directory gets the same advice from us, because the fundamentals don't move. Walk the ramp and count how many aircraft are down for maintenance. Ask how many lessons a week they can actually schedule you, and how far out the booking calendar runs. Ask for first-attempt checkride pass rates and how long students wait for an examiner. And keep your money in your control: pay as you fly, or in small blocks with clear refund terms.
Then weigh the location itself. Training in Daytona Beach means building your early hours in Florida weather and airspace, and both become part of your airmanship. Our school-selection guide covers the full vetting checklist, and the financing page maps scholarships and loans that apply at schools like this one.
