What Students and Pilots Say

★★★★★ 1 month ago

My sister booked us a flight here on our vacation and I cannot believe what an incredible time we had! She's working on her PPL and the CFI we had was absolutely incredible and was very knowledgeable. I can see now why she fell in love with aviation, and I really liked the experience overall. If I was a pilot in training I'd hope to have a CFI like we did because he was so kind and had a passion for the job! I really…

2 stars if youre looking to come here to add a rating or pick up your training. The costs, all kinds of “contracts” and business model is not ideal for that and you’ll spend much more than you intend. They will also raise prices and are NOT subject to informing you at all. If your instructor cared enough they would let you know personally. I dont think this place is ideal for that as a mom and pop flight school would…

Where to begin... I worked with Ethan to help make sure things went smoothly transitioning into the school and setting my start date. He was outstanding, helpful, supportive and patient with me. I started my orientation with Evan, who was very thorough with introducing the school, expectations and how to succeed here. I then met my instructor, Brian, who from day 1 has gone above and beyond to support me, while makin…

Karissa is awesome! I loved training with her, she is so smart and knowledgeable, kind, and patient. Not to mention a 21 year old flight instructor—that’s badass!! Nothing but the best times. I felt I progressed fast and while being younger it was really valuable having someone that understood who I was, a younger guy, who liked to dress casually, and enjoy my flying while learning. Karissa rocks—thanks FTP! I will a…

Planning Your Training Here

Planning training at a local school like Academy of Aviation – Orlando trades the academy's speed for flexibility and often meaningfully lower total cost. The pay-as-you-fly model keeps your money in your control, and training two to three lessons weekly around work is the proven rhythm, enough frequency to retain skills without the academy's all-in schedule. The variable to manage is momentum: local-school students who succeed book standing lesson slots, fly year-round, and treat ground study as homework rather than something that happens at the airport. Ask about aircraft scheduling depth, instructor availability on your target days, and examiner wait times in Orlando, the three friction points that stretch part-time timelines.

What Flying in Florida Teaches You

Florida pairs sea-level performance with year-round flying, which is why more airline cadets train here than anywhere outside Arizona. The classroom is the afternoon sky: predictable convection builds most summer days, teaching students to read cumulus, plan around storms, and fly mornings. Coastal training corridors from Daytona through Vero Beach are dense with trainers, so collision avoidance and crisp radio work get baked in early.

How to Evaluate Academy of Aviation – Orlando on Your Tour

Every school on this directory gets the same advice from us, because the fundamentals don't move. Walk the ramp and count how many aircraft are down for maintenance. Ask how many lessons a week they can actually schedule you, and how far out the booking calendar runs. Ask for first-attempt checkride pass rates and how long students wait for an examiner. And keep your money in your control: pay as you fly, or in small blocks with clear refund terms.

Then weigh the location itself. Training in Orlando means building your early hours in Florida weather and airspace, and both become part of your airmanship. Our school-selection guide covers the full vetting checklist, and the financing page maps scholarships and loans that apply at schools like this one.

Common Questions About Training at Academy of Aviation – Orlando

How long would my training take here?

Part-time students flying two to three lessons weekly typically earn a private certificate in six to twelve months and a commercial certificate in two to three years, with pace set by your calendar and the weather. Consistency decides everything: standing lesson slots beat sporadic bursts by months.

What will it cost, and can I get help paying?

Get Academy of Aviation – Orlando's current rates directly; published numbers age fast in this industry. Nationally, plan on $80,000 to $120,000 from zero time to commercial certificates before instructing pay starts offsetting costs. Our financing guide maps the loans, scholarships, and airline cadet programs that apply here, and several scholarship cycles go undersubscribed every single year.

How should I arrange a visit?

Call ahead and ask for a tour on a normal training day, not a quiet one.
